Open Burning Prohibited

District of Lillooet Open Burning season will remain closed.

This closure extension is to align with the BC Wildfire Service’s notice that was released on October 12th, 2022. This prohibition is being extended to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety due to continued unseasonably warm, dry conditions.

This closure only effects Category 2A, 2B and Category 3 open burning within the District of Lillooet and does not include campfires.
The following equipment and activities remain prohibited:
• Category 2 open fire;
• Category 3 open fire;
• Fireworks;
• Sky Lanterns;
• Burn Barrels or Burn Cages of any size or description, except when used for a campfire;

Anyone found in contravention of an open burning prohibition may be subject to fines and penalties.
