BC Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)


Lillooet - Entrepreneur Immigration


The Entrepreneur Immigration stream of the BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) is a path to immigrate to Canada and settle in British Columbia for experienced entrepreneurs who can support innovation and economic growth in the province.  The Province of British Columbia recently launched the second round of the Regional Program which is designed for entrepreneurs who propose to establish and actively manage new businesses in regional communities in British Columbia, such as Lillooet.

Entrepreneur Immigration - Regional Program

The program targets entrepreneurs with a desire to start a business and settle in regional communities like Lillooet.  Entrepreneurs and business ideas would be required to meet the following criteria to apply:
  1.  Business fits within Lillooet’s key economic development industry subsectors:
    1. 4452 – Specialty Food Retailers
    2. 4561 -  Health & Personal Care Retailers
    3. 6216  - Home Healthcare Services
    4. 6241 – Individual & Family Services
    5. 7139 – Other Amusement and Recreation Industries with a focus on sports and recreational activities serving residents and tourists alike
    6. 7221 – Traveler Accommodations
    7. 7223 – Special Food Services
    8. 7225 – Restaurants
    9. 8121 – Personal Care Services
  2. Minimum of $100,000 in eligible business investments
  3. Minimum personal net worth of $300,000
  4. Minimum of 51% ownership in the proposed business
  5. Minimum of 1 new local job created for a Canadian citizen
If you meet all five of these criteria, please follow these steps in the application process.  You will only be contacted if all these steps are complete and the necessary documents have been submitted.

STEP 3: Demonstrate a minimum language proficiency of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 4
 
STEP 4: Prepare your business plan – Business Plan resources can be found here:

STEP 5:  FILL OUT the District of Lillooet PNP Application form and attach the following documents:

  • Resume

  • Proof of Language Proficiency

  • Draft Business Plan

  • Self-assessment score from the BC PNP registration system

Note:  After completing Steps 1-5, launch the application form to start your application for the BC PNP – Regional program with the District of Lillooet. Applications are reviewed monthly by the District and the Chamber of Commerce. If you are selected, you will be notified at the District of Lillooet’s discretion.

NEXT STEPS
Note:  Only applications who are deemed as qualifying for the PNP Regional Pilot Program in the District of Lillooet will be contacted.
 
After the initial assessment of the application, the foreign entrepreneur will be asked to present their business ideas to the community’s designated contact person via a virtual platform such as Zoom. If the business idea fits within Lillooet’s key sectors, then the contact person may offer a letter of invitation for an exploratory visit to the applicant.  The exploratory visit allows the applicant to visit the community to refine the business plan further and see if Lillooet is indeed the place to call home!
 
Post exploratory visit, if the business is still deemed by all parties to be a good fit for Lillooet, then the contact person may prepare a referral form for submission as part of the applicant’s BC PNP registration with the Province.
