Message from the Desk of Mayor Busse

January 4, 2022
It has come to my attention that there are an increasing number of challenges and altercations within our community relating to certain persons taking issue with the requirements by the BC Public Health Orders of wearing of masks or other requirements for entry into certain venues and events.

I ask and implore you to please respect those retail businesses and their personnel as they are only doing as they are required to by these orders.

Control your frustrations and point them to the appropriate direction in a peaceable and professional manner – our Public Health in Interior Health and the Public Health for the province. Also, your concerns can and should be shared with our MLA and MP. These are the representatives of the decision makers of the mandates.

We are fellow community members that must respect each other whether in agreement or not. Condemnation of fellow residents of our community for simply following as they are obliged is completely mis-directed and should not be tolerated.  Please read the Vocal Local by J. Timms in the past issue and his last lines are most appropriate in this time and these events.

Hoping you all had a very Merry Christmas and sincere best wishes for a much better New Year.

Peter Busse
